Rose Selected to Lead D&E Swim Programs

Nicole Rose has been chosen as the new head coach of the Davis & Elkins men’s and women’s swim programs. Rose takes over the D&E swim program after spending four seasons as the Swimming and Diving coach at Lake Erie College, where she was the program’s first head coach.


D&E Splits with WVU-Tech

Davis & Elkins picked up one win over NAIA foe West Virginia Tech on Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Bears took game one 7-2, but D&E bounced back with a 13-1 win in game two.


DeGrazia Sinks Top Spot at G-MAC Championship

Freshman Evan DeGrazia claimed low medalist honors at the G-MAC men’s golf championship after carding a three-round score of 238 (74-74-80).

The Davis & Elkins baseball win streak was snapped at seven following a split with California (Pa.) on Tuesday. The Senators came away with an 8-5 win in game one, but the Vulcans prevented the sweep with an 11-2 victory in the night cap.

Travis Phelps has been named the G-MAC's Baseball Offensive Athlete of the Week for the first time this season after an impressive week at the plate for the Battlers, who went 4-0 last week in conference action and 6-0 overall on the week.

Hamon Nets G-MAC Tennis Monthly Award

Vincent Harmon has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conferences Men's Tennis Athlete of the Month to begin the 2013-14 spring portion of the season. It is the first Men's Tennis AOTW in conference history, as Men's Tennis, with only three members sponsoring the sport, is in its first season as an emerging conference sport.

Marissa Morris recently signed her letter of intent to suit up for Davis & Elkins College. “I really liked the campus a lot and the soccer team made me feel right at home and they were all really friendly,” said Morris, who plans to major in psychology. “It just seemed like a really friendly environment.”

Augusta Class Cooking Cajun Gumbo for a Fais Do-Do

Wednesday evening the air around Halliehurst’s porch will be filled with the bold scent of cayenne pepper, onions, and sausage from Louisiana. Jackie Miller, assisted by D&E’s Judie Smith, is teaching a Cajun Cooking class as part of Cajun/Creole Week. The class is preparing and serving gumbo and potato salad around 8:00 pm for the annual Fais Do-Do (Cajun party).


Square Dancing at the Pendleton County Fair

There is a square dance on Thursday July 19th at 7pm in Circleville High School Gym as part of the Pendleton County Fair. Musicians are Scott Prouty on fiddle, Anne Hartman on banjo and Julie Blecher on guitar. Local Pendleton County square dance callers will be calling figures for the dance. Admission is free with donations welcomed.
